The Laboratory at Haywood Park Community Hospital is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and by the State of Tennessee. We offer a vast variety of in-house laboratory tests that are performed by licensed and/or registered technologists. The laboratory provides 24 hour coverage for emergency procedures.
Outpatient Laboratory Services
Outpatient services are provided from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Appointments generally are not necessary for outpatient tests, but to perform testing, we require a written physician's order specifying the test required, the diagnosis for the test and the physician's signature.
Drug Screening
The laboratory also serves as a chain-of-custody urine drug screen collection facility for several local factories and businesses. Testing of those samples is done at other accredited reference laboratories. Chain-of-custody UDS collectors are certified according to 49 CFR Part 40.
The laboratory staff works closely with physicians in order to provide laboratory results in a timely manner. Accuracy of laboratory results is monitored through proficiency testing materials provided by the College of American Pathologists.
